Highlands & Islands Food and Drink Awards receive record entries

40 per cent increase in entries for 2015 awards

The Highland & Islands Food & Drink Awards have reported almost a 40 per cent increase in entries for this year.

A record total of 100 submissions were received for the awards, which were judged last week by a panel of 13 at The Storehouse at Foveran.

The awards, which are currently in their eleventh year, encompass a total of 13 categories ranging from Export Healthier Food & Drink to Young Shining Star and Restaurant of the Year. The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Inverness at the four star venue, Kingsmills Hotel on 23 October.

Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) support the awards each year, Crystal Mackay, development manager at HIE, commented: “We would like to thank the companies and individuals who entered the awards and congratulate them on their submissions.

“We are very pleased to see such a high level of quality entries from across the region. Our fantastic natural larder is one of our key strengths and growing the food and drink sector is a priority for us”.
