Marketing push for Aberdeenshire Castles

Castle Trail brochure launched

A revamped marketing brochure called “The Castle Trail’ on Aberdeenshire’s castles which includes tales of gruesome battles and romantic stately home walks has been jointly launched by VisitScotland, Historic Scotland, National Trust for Scotland and Aberdeenshire Council.


The brochure, features details on dozens of castles, from Balmoral to Braemar and Corgarff to Craigievar with a trail taking in each of the historical sites. The brochure also includes details of each site, with nearby attractions listed to encourage people to further explore the region. 


Philip Smith, VisitScotland Regional Director, said: “The Castle Trail’ is incredibly popular with our visitors, both domestic and international, and I am delighted the brochure has been refreshed for this year. It provides essential information for anyone visiting these fantastic properties right across Aberdeenshire.”


A total of 70,000 brochures have been printed, 30,000 of which are being distributed at airports and via accommodation providers and attractions in Aberdeenshire, Dundee, Fife, Perthshire, the Highlands and the Central Belt.
