Airline commissions 70k extra seats from Edinburgh

easyJet to provide thousands more seats on routes from Edinburgh Airport over summer

Date : 26/02/2015

Global airline easyJet has announced it will provide almost 70,000 extra seats on specific routes from Edinburgh Airport over summer.

Extra seats will be provided on a total of 19 easyJet services including Nice, Madrid, Amsterdam, Naples and Paris Charles de Gaulle. It will give passengers the chance to travel to destinations all over Europe but, more importantly, it will bring visitors from these locations to Scotland and provide a boost to the country’s tourism.

The decision to add additional seats on specific easyJet routes between 22 May – 21 July has been supported by the Chief Commercial Officer at Edinburgh Airport, John Watson. He said:

“This is great news for our passengers and means we can now offer even more choice in our already extensive easyJet route network. It’s getting to the point in the year when people are starting to think about their summer holidays.

“We have a great relationship with our colleagues at easyJet and look forward to a busy summer schedule in 2015”.

The additional services have also been targeted towards business passengers, providing a higher volume of flights to and from European corporate cities which has been supported by Ali Gayward, easyJet’s Head of Scotland:

“For business passengers these extra seats mean that we have more connections to key cities across Europe including Berlin, Copenhagen and Paris Charles de Gaulle.

“Additionally, easyJet’s unique Scotland Flex offer means that passengers can fly back early from any London Airport to any Scottish Airport”.

EasyJet’s announcement follows the airline’s launch of a new service to and from Funchal in Madeira this year and routes to and from Heraklion and Bodrum which began in 2014.
