Dishing up treats for 2015 and beyond

It???s time to start thinking about Scotland???s Year of Food and Drink in 2015. Here are two great examples of useful resources to get you started.

Date : 25/06/2014

There are plenty of show-stopping events to keep you occupied in 2014, but come October when the dust has settled on the Commonwealth Games and the Ryder Cup, we’d like to turn your attention to food and drink.

Next year is Scotland’s Year of Food and Drink, when Glasgow’s tourism team will be bringing businesses together to discover exactly how Scottish food and drink can be maximised to bring the customer experience alive.

From September onwards, tourism partners in Glasgow will be sending out a call for people across the city to get involved and help develop a series of twelve food and drink related themes, one for each month of 2015. There will also be a dining club set up to encourage business-to-business partnerships to maximise the opportunities of working together.

Scottish Enterprise will be organising a host of activities to support each theme. There will be tastings, learning journeys, supplier fairs, workshops and speaker events, looking at every aspect of Scotland’s food and drink offering – from production and distribution, using local produce, food trends, cooking and preparing, menus and promotion. Plenty of opportunities to learn from exemplars from overseas and across the UK.

In the meantime, there are some online resources to get you thinking. Why not start compiling a list of the issues you’d like to tackle in 2015 to help your business take full advantage of Scotland’s exceptional food and drink offering?
