Mountain Biking in the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park is to benefit from exciting recent developments, with the launch of route cards and a new bike park.
Bike Trossachs route cards have been launched to help more people to explore the trails in the Trossachs safely and sustainably. These route cards will allow riders to discover the trails and find out more information on the area.
News that planning permission has been granted for a new bike park in Aberfoyle has also been welcomed, further boosting the area’s reputation as a hot-spot for mountain biking.
Sandy Slater, Secretary of Bike Trossachs said, “We are absolutely delighted to be launching the Bike Trossachs Route Cards, which show the routes of some of our favourite trails in the area. These will help locals and visitors alike to discover the fantastic mountain bike tracks in the area. Securing the planning permission for the Aberfoyle Bike Park is an excellent step forwards and will help the local community to experience mountain biking and develop their cycling skills.”
Both of the projects are examples of community engagement and partnership working which were identified as key areas for improvement within the Scottish national strategic framework for mountain biking. The strategic framework is being delivered, within Scottish Cycling, by Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland (DMBinS).
Graeme McLean, Project Manager of the DMBinS project said, “It’s fantastic to see the success of this community project which will help to further develop mountain biking in the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. The route cards will provide an excellent resource for mountain bikers seeking to find new trails, while the Aberfoyle Bike Park is a superb addition to the area. We’re extremely happy to help support these projects which will benefit the local community, and also help develop mountain bike tourism in the area.”
