Argyll and the Isles Tourism Summit

Fourth AITC summit takes place on 17 March 2015 at Loch and Glens Ardgarten Hotel

Event Date: 05/03/2015 - 17/03/2015

Tuesday 17 March 2015 10.30-16.30

The fourth Argyll and the Isles Tourism Summit run by Argyll and the Isles Tourism Co-operative Ltd (AITC) is taking place on Tuesday 17 March at Loch and Glens Ardgarten Hotel.

This year’s summit is focusing on ‘seeing ourselves as others see us’ and will explore how the region is marketed and promoted not just by local businesses, local marketing groups and AITC, but the operators who bring visitors to the area.

AITC will be joined by VisitScotland who will present recent findings on rapidly changing visitor behaviours, helping businesses understand what appeals to different visitors and the implications of this for businesses in the Argyll and Isles area. Caledonian MacBrayne will also be exploring how businesses can appeal to a younger audience.

The programme will also feature several workshops with key speakers including Gordon Watson, the newly appointed CEO of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, Neil Wells of Lochs & Glens, Robert Kidd of McInlay Kidd, Stef Lauer of Wilderness Scotland and Marc Crothal, CEO of the ScottishTourism Alliance (STA).

The summit officially begins on 17 March but there are also plans for a field trip the day before, on Monday 16 March, to see new developments at Loch Lomond and Loch Long and the East of Argyll around Helensburgh. This will be followed by a pre-summit dinner being held at Loch Fyne Spa Hotel before the conference begins on Tuesday.
