The Scottish Caravan and Camping Forum (SCCF), demonstrate in a new report that holiday parks have contributed £700 million to the Scottish economy over the last year.
The report which results from extensive research, also shows that the sector supports more than 5,600 full-time equivalent jobs, and reveals figures of £491 million for gross visitor expenditure which was higher than the self-catering category (£396m) and the guest house/B&B sector (£86m).
The chairman of SCCF, David Key, said:
“The committee is delighted with the results because we have, for the first time, established the value of the sector to the economy.
"£700 plus million is a significant contribution, as is the 5,688 full-time-equivalent jobs. Caravan parks are important to the rural economy because parks employ local people and visitors spend money in the area”.
