Food, Drink and Family Fun on Menu for 2014 Crail Food Festival

The 2014 Crail Food Festival returns on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th June, encouraging visitors to explore the village, discover local food businesses and experience the best that Crail has to offer.

Date : 05/06/2014

The 4th annual 2014 Crail Food Festival will take place on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th June.

This year, Crail Food Festival will be extended across a wider range of venues and is bigger than ever before, with support from Fife Council’s Strategic Events Programme, The Community Food Fund, EventScotland and Homecoming Scotland 2014.

The festival showcases Fife’s food and drink produce and producers through a lively programme of cookery demonstrations, educational workshops, food and drink tastings, chef talks, foraging walks, food trails, entertainment, activities for children and families and markets - a great example of a destination maximising its assets and playing to its strengths.

There are food making workshops and activities for children including pizza making and making jam – places are limited and on a first come, first served basis.

Food producer participants in the Indoor Market and Tasting Hall include Ardross Farm Shop, Balgove Larder, The Cocoa Tree and Pittenweem Chocolate Company, St. Andrews Brewing Company and the Eden Brewery.

At the House of Sugar visitors will be able to meet producers Sucre Coeur, Tipsy Mallows, Amy Claire’s Edibles, Pink Cadillac and Iain Burnett, The Highland Chocolatier who has recently opened a base in St. Andrews, and who will bring his gourmet chocolates to Crail. The House of Sugar will also be home to a cupcake decorating competition for children.

On Sunday 15th June, Crail Harbour is transformed for the Festival's popular Harbour Lunch with street food stalls, local community groups and local businesses joining in with the festival atmosphere.

Visitors can collect copies of the Crail Food Trail at the Crail Museum – perfect for groups, families and children. It will take just under an hour to finish the Crail Food Trail with some surprises on the way - and those handing in their finished trail to Crail Museum receive a token for the chance to win a family day out in Fife.

A Crail Food Festival Day Pass costs £3.00 per adult, children under 12 free, includes parking. Entry to seated events are on a first come first served basis.
