Celebrate World Whisky Day 2014

People and venues across the globe will be celebrating World Whisky Day 2014 on Saturday 17th May and Scotland is no exception, with whisky events and activities taking place across the country.

Date : 12/05/2014

World Whisky Day is a day of global celebration of “the water of life” and the annual event, founded and developed by whisky enthusiast Blair Bowman, invites people to try a dram and celebrate whisky in unique and creative ways across the world. What better way to sample whisky for the first time or to introduce your visitors or guests to the diversity of Scotland's whisky distilleries, whiskies and heritage?

Events taking place throughout the world, in the UK, the USA, Malta and Australia to mention just a few, include tastings, shows, whisky recipe challenges, whisky themed dinners and even film screenings. Some events also take place beyond Saturday 17th and are available up until the end of May.

Whisky fans can register their own events on the World Whisky Day website and search for events happening nearby, as well as browse and buy from the online shop or read the latest blog posts.

Whisky fans in Scotland can enjoy World Whisky Day signature events in Aberdeen and Edinburgh, such as The Scotch Malt Whisky Society’s Clans and Drams Festival, which will open its doors to members and non-members alike with a month-long celebration of flavour.

Fans can also share their stories and events, and join in the chat on social media using the #worldwhiskyday hashtag and by following World Whisky Day on Twitter.
