Date : 09/01/2014

EventScotland has marked its ten-year anniversary with the publication of EventScotland: Celebrating 10 Years. The agency has also revealed that it will publish a new events strategy for 2015.

The organisation reports that £30m has been invested across EventScotland’s programmes since 2003, and estimates more than £763m economic impact from its international events programme. More than 1,000 events have been supported by EventScotland during the ten-year period.

Paul Bush, chief operating officer for EventScotland, said: "Reading through this new publication it is clear that the Scottish events industry has grown a great deal over the past decade and it has been a privilege to have been part of that.

"Our first ten years has provided a solid platform and we can be proud about what we have achieved, however we cannot afford to be complacent. We must relish the opportunities ahead, overcome any challenges and continue to raise the bar."

Scotland’s event portfolio has grown considerably during the last decade, including a number of international events such as the Heineken Cup Final, The Mountain Bike and Trials World Championships, World Cross Country Championships and the MOBO Awards.
