Scotlands History Festival Expands and Inspires for 2013

Scottish Festival'Previously' shines a spotlight on Scotland???s history and runs from 13 - 30 November 2013.

Now in its third year, Previously, Scotland’s History Festival, returns with an ambitious programme this year, featuring 275 different events, and extending to venues outside of Edinburgh including Glasgow, Midlothian, Stirling and Dunfermline.

Fans of Scottish history and ancestry will be delighted to see a diverse programme of events including talks, guided walks, bus and cycle tours, performance poetry, live music and theatre productions as well as storytelling, great authors, exhibitions, food and drink.

Highlights include “pop-up” family history surgeries for those wanting to trace their Scottish ancestors, guided walking tours to Edinburgh’s Dean Village and Warriston Cemetery, plus tours in Stirling and Glasgow; a talk on the Private and Public Lives of Scottish Women, and celebrations for Robert Louis Stevenson Day on the 13th of November, and Andrew Carnegie Day on the 25th November.

This year’s festival will have a permanent hub for the first time, sited in the historic Adam House building on Chambers Street, Edinburgh. 

Festival-goers can also expect appearances from historian Tom Devine and broadcasters James Naughtie and Lesley Riddoch amongst others.
